Christmas Tree Hunter and Gatherer Style

We had a great time Saturday trying to find a Christmas tree somewhere on Kodiak.  We drove all around looking high and low for a tree cut down and take home.  It took awhile, but we prevailed.  We got some pretty interesting looks having ratchet-strapped it to the top of our car, but it worked out in the end.  The person working the drive-thru at the coffee shop complimented us on our Christmas tree so it must be adequate.

Bring On The Meat Coma!

Pretty exciting times here in Alaska.  Juston went out with some friends from church and harvested a bison.  It was huge!  400 lbs. of organic, grassfed meat after processing.

Early Exposure

Erin took this photo of Isla and me.  I really like it.  It's a little hard to see, but Isla's cruising around on my back in a pack while I'm fly fishing.  We didn't have a lot of luck that day, but it was a beautiful fall day to be on the river.

Halloween Decorations?

So something pretty weird happened today.  I had a quartered out deer hanging in our woodshed waiting to be processed and Callum and I went in to grab a leg to get started.  Callum looked around at the various body parts hanging from the rafters and he asked, "Are those Halloween decorations?"  What are they teaching my kid at school?!

Callum's First School Photo

We still need to get pics of Callum's first day of school posted, but Callum brought home his first school photo today so we thought we'd throw it up real quick.  Look at that dapper boy!
